5th Grade September 2015

Homework/Grades

Check assignment notebooks:  Every teacher has assignments on their boards, we review homework & remind students what to do.  They are responsible for getting the information written down.

Check the 5th/6th grade homework blog which is updated daily (thanks Mrs. Platt) on the MCC website under the West Elementary tab.

Check their grades online.  Sometimes it takes time for us to put grades in.  Be patient, we are only human.

Study hall: 8:05-8:35 & 2:55-3:10, if they use their time wisely, this is a lot of time to get work completed, supplies organized, & get prepared.  Band, library, & a few special classes take a little of this time, but it’s a great way for kids to learn time management!

After School Academy: M, T, TH 3:15-4:00. Students can choose to stay and get work done or they might be required to stay because of late work.  Either way, this is a privilege, so we need students to show responsible behavior for the PSAs who run the program.  If they are required to stay, they will make a phone call home to check with you. At 4:00, they either need to be picked up or walk home.

           5th Grade Yearlong

          Reading Assignment

During the school year, you will be required to read one book/month off of one of these lists.  A quick STUDENT report or assignment will accompany each book.   Books are available from my library, the bookroom, or NOW the Plum Creek Library system!

At the end of the year, we will have an Oscar Celebration to decide the best books we read!

A letter will come home with your son/daughter after the first week of school to give you more information. Completion points will be given towards students' grades.  As long as I can tell they read the book and turn one in per month, they will get the points.
